What does McKenzie Stone & Tile offer?
McKenzie Stone & Tile is a full fabrication and installation shop for natural stone, engineered quartz and other countertop materials. We carry a full showroom of tile options for flooring, backsplash, showers and much more. We have sinks, faucets and other plumbing fixtures on display for purchase with your project so you can leave our showroom knowing all of your bases are covered. Our on staff design associates are here to help assist you with any design questions and to walk you through our entire process along the way.
Whats the difference between engineered Quartz and natural stone?
Natural stone (Granite, Quartzite, Marble) comes directly from stone quarries and is afterwards cut into slabs that we can then fabricate countertops from. Quartz countertops are a man made stone product that contain a large amount of natural quartz but may also include other minerals.
Although the color and design can be an immediate giveaway, you will be pleasantly surprised by the extreme low maintenance of engineered Quartz, due to it's durability and stain resistance.
Do you fabricate and Install the countertops?
Yes we do! We fabricate your countertops from start to finish from either full slabs or remnants of your choosing. We do not work with any "Pre-Fabricated" counters as they do not meet our standards of fitment or quality.
We have a trained group of installers that will handle every step of your countertop install until its completion.
Can I send in my own dimensioned drawings to get a quote started?
Yes! Unless you or your contractor are confident in fabricating your tops based off of your drawings, our templater will always take final measurements before we start cutting. Any changes from the last drawings will be added or subtracted to/from your final deposit.
Do you have full slabs for viewing at your shop?
Although we have a very large remnant yard, we do not have many full slabs for viewing. Depending on your material selection, we will suggest you to visit our suppliers full slab warehouses in the Portland/Tualatin area.
What are the standard thicknesses of granite and quartz tops?
The standards are 3cm (1-1/8") and 2cm (3/4"), though porcelain tops offer further sizing.
How often should I reseal my natural stone countertops?
Depending on how much use your countertops get, it is suggested to reseal your tops every 5- 10 years.

I see small pits and lines in my granite, does that mean its not finished?
Fear not! Granite is naturally porous and will exhibit small lines, imperfections and textures. Whether polished, honed, or leathered, these imperfections are a part of the beauty that granite beholds.
Why does my natural stone top show water marks?
Due to the porosity of the stone, natural stone can show water marks even when polished and sealed. These marks typically dry quickly.
* If you have spilled something other than water, clean up quickly so as not to let any stains set. We do offer cleaners, but even some stains may not be able to clean out completely, as it will depend on the type of stain and how long it has been set.
Do I need to put down a deposit?
Yes, a 50% deposit is due for all countertop orders, while all tile orders are to be paid in full.
Do you install tile?
We entrust a handful of local tile installers for our clients needs.
